What to Expect and Bring
What to Expect
When you arrive at the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center (FJC), you will be greeted by a receptionist in the waiting area. The receptionist will provide you with a welcome letter explaining our confidentiality and client-screening policy. She will then ask you to fill out a brief intake form.
Information obtained during your visit to the FJC is confidential and will not be released without your written consent or a valid court order.
The intake form collects basic information about you and provides you with a list of services available at the FJC. This information is confidential and will not be shared with anyone without your express written permission or a valid court order. The receptionist will ask you to provide photo identification (driver’s license, state identification card or other valid photo identification) to assist in the client screening process.
The client screening consists of a court case check and is done to ensure the safety of all FJC clients, volunteers and staff. The FJC serves only victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence perpetrators seeking service at the FJC will be referred to another location for services.
Once the intake form and screening is complete, you will move from the reception area to the great room / waiting room inside the center. From there, you will be greeted by an advocate who will take you to an intake room to discuss your reason for visiting the FJC.
The advocate will provide you with information about available services and coordinate the services that you need. On your first visit to the FJC, you can expect to spend several hours working with your advocate on various issues and may make return appointments depending on your individual needs.
At the end of your visit, the advocate will ask you to fill out an exit survey to tell us how you felt about your visit. You will also be asked if we can contact you at a later date to follow up regarding your safety and/or to ask you to participate in a focus group regarding your thoughts about the FJC. You may also provide feedback via email or by using the Contact Us link on this website.
What to Bring
There are no fees for services at the FJC. The only thing you need to bring with you to the FJC is valid photo identification.
